Summer 2025 IRH Public Engagement Internship
We’re committed to finding the next generation of mental health and community change makers through learning and development opportunities that are dynamic and relational. This year’s program to engage Communications & Engagement interns in the development of a creative campaign for integrative relational health brought over 150 undergraduate and graduate applicants, from which a select few were invited to submit additional materials during a first round selection process. Congratulations on advancing as a second round candidate for the Summer 2025 Public Engagement Internship, representing .
An important final step in our selection for the Summer 2025 Public Engagement Internship is a group interview—a collaborative, interactive session designed to help us get to know you beyond your resume and sample of work. This is a valuable opportunity to show your strengths in a team setting. Whether you’re a natural leader, a thoughtful contributor, or someone with creative problem-solving skills, we want to see what makes you you.
We look forward to meeting you and seeing how you shine in a group dynamic! Some of you bring strengths as a designer, some as deep thinkers, others as empaths.

Understanding the Group Interview Process
-
This internship program takes place remotely, and calls for interns who are comfortable working in virtual groups. A group interview allows us to see how you navigate this kind of learning environment:
Communicate and collaborate with others
Demonstrate leadership and initiative
Contribute to team-based problem-solving
Manage time and stay focused
It’s not about being the loudest voice in the room—it’s about showing your ability to listen, share ideas, and work effectively with others.
-
During the group interview, you’ll join a small group of candidates in the following activities:
Share a 30-second self-introductions
Work together in a collaborative problem-solving exercise
Engage in a group discussion
Our Community Manager will observe how you engage with your peers, approach challenges, and bring your unique perspective to the table.
-
Schedule your interview. Please complete this form to share preferences for your interview time and some additional administrative details. A confirmation email and calendar invite will be sent to indicate your scheduled interview time and Zoom link.
Do your research and prepare ahead of time. Review the Center for Integrative Relational Health website, paying special attention to the About page and the Summer 2025 Public Engagement Internship program page.
Be yourself. Your authenticity and your willingness to collaborate go a long way. At the beginning of the group interview, you will have time to share a little about yourself. In this brief introduction, you can share whatever information you think will help the group understand you. Don’t forget to share the basics - like your name, your hometown, what school you attend, your major, and your class year.
Practice active listening and attunement. During the collaborative activity, we are interested in your ability to respond thoughtfully and with awareness just as much as we are interested in seeing how you speak up, share your idea, or take on a leadership role.
-
In less than a minute, tell us who you are in a brief self-introduction. We want to know the information you think helps the group understand who you are, and that may include your name, your hometown, the school you attend, your major and class year, and your talents and interests.
-
During the collaborative problem solving activity, you will work with your peers to brainstorm a creative asset that raises awareness about the key ideas you learned on the About page of the Center for Integrative Relational Health.
Please note that you will not produce the creative asset, but rather describe what the asset is (i.e., an Instagram series, a YouTube video, an on-site multi-campus activation)
-
We will ask you to share insights about your experience working collaboratively. Be prepared to respond to questions such as:
"How did your group decide to approach this problem?"
"Was there a moment when someone's idea changed the direction of your solution?"
"What challenges did you face working together virtually?"
"What was something valuable you learned from another candidate today?"
